WHAT CURATED VINTAGE MEANS TO US
HOW WE DO THINGS AND HOW WE PRICE
Sourcing & Searching
Often, we spend hours to months reverse-searching and scouring all possible avenues to find a special item, possibly buying it at a premium price, then doing a detailed clean and restoring it to bring it back to life to live in another wardrobe. Restoring it could mean several things, but most often it’s that we took the time to find the right paint color to cover signs of wear or that we took them to the cobbler. If you have never taken shoes to a cobbler, sometimes the work required can run up a bill of over $100. We aren’t simply buying low and selling high. We consider these steps when pricing our items in addition to the rarity level.
Sourcing Overseas
We go through racks and stacks of items to select the most unique items for our shop. We love working hand-in-hand with some of the best vintage boutiques in the world.
🧵 Curating An Awesome Collection
(Please note that our entire inventory is still being uploaded or may be limited online.)
Everything on SASSYSOWHAT is intentionally chosen to bring buyers a little taste of every vibe from throwback Y2K non-designer to avant-garde runway pieces. We have a network of sources to get our items, but most have been personally found by sifting through hundreds of dumpy eBay listings with bad lighting, waving through racks at thrift stores, scouring every page on online marketplaces at odd hours of the night, and fighting other motivated buyers at estate sales. These are things that most people wouldn’t spend time doing, but it’s something that can unearth treasures in unexpected places.
Long story short, having someone curate a collection of the best from different sources like this saves you time and money in the long run. You are less likely to buy something that was misrepresented because we do the work to provide detailed information and upload photos for reference.
🌍 The ECO Footprint
We do our best to source locally, and we make the effort and set aside the time to source while we are travelling around the globe. This helps cut down on transportation emissions by sourcing in-person as much as possible.
All of our packaging material is eco-friendly or made out of recycled material. We all know that these are not the most budget-friendly packing options for a small business, but we stand by being a sustainable source for style in a dauntingly unsustainable industry like fashion.
Transparency is important to us, and so is customer satisfaction. If you’re not happy about a price or are still wondering about something, shoot us a message at hisassysowhat@gmail.com. We’re happy to answer any questions or just say hi. :)
